First run

Linux. Install the .deb with your package manager, or make the AppImage executable and run it. Only the .deb can register Orivon as your default browser.

Windows. The installer is per user and needs no administrator. It is not yet signed with a bought certificate, so SmartScreen warns once: choose More info, then Run anyway.

macOS. The app is signed ad hoc and not notarised, so the first open is refused. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway. Later opens work normally.

On first launch Orivon asks one question: whether to send anonymous usage statistics. Both buttons are equal and neither is preselected. Privacy and your data says exactly what would be sent.

Bring your browser with you

Settings imports bookmarks and history from Chrome, Chromium, Edge, Brave and Firefox, and passwords from a CSV file. Chrome extensions install from the Chrome Web Store as they do in Chrome. See Everyday browsing.

Run from source

On any system with Node.js 22.13 or newer, and nothing else:

git clone https://github.com/OrivonBrowser/orivon-mvp.git
cd orivon-mvp
npm install
npm start # your real profile, as an installed build
# npm run dev # hot reload, on a throwaway profile each launch

No compiler is needed on any system; a check fails the build if a dependency would need one.

Updates

Orivon can check for a new release and tell you when one is out. The check is off by default and never installs anything: it links to the release page, and you download the new package yourself.
